We are huge breakfast fan’s in this house. We woke up wanting doughnuts and had these whipped up in less than 20 minutes. They were warm and fluffy with the perfect hint of sweetness. Pair with a cup of hot coffee or tea and you’ve got the perfect breakfast.

1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. whole wheat pastry flour
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg (lightly beaten)
3/4 c. non-fat vanilla yogurt
1 tabls. vegetable oil
2 1/2 tabls. real maple syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tabls. buttermilk
Preheat oven to 400. Lightly spray donut pan with non-stick spray.
In a large bowl lightly whisk all dry ingredients together. In a separate bowl mix together all wet ingredients. Create well in dry ingredients and pour in wet, mix until just combined. Spoon batter evenly into the donut pan.
Bake for 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Let cool for 2 – 3 minutes in pan then flip onto cooling rack. While cooling melt 3 tablespoons of butter and 1 tablespoon of maple syrup. Mix together 1/3 c. sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon. Lightly brush each donut with melted butter/syrup mixture and dip each donut into cinnamon sugar to coat.
